When a car enthusiast hears the term “Muscle Car” automatically they envision a Hemi Rattling a Road Runner, a 454 Chevelle, or maybe a Tri Power GTO. While all notable examples of superior power and divine styling, these cars were not the only cars of the 60’s to display muscle. You didn’t have to have a big block to blister the dragstrip or to impress on the backroads. Enter this 1969 Dodge Dart GTS. In the late 60’s Dodge set out on a mission to build a car that would implore envy in appearance, unnerve motorheads with the power under the hood, and skirt just under the radar of the insurance salesman that was eager to slap surcharges on the 400+ engines of the day. The Dart GTS 340 did just that. Dodge built this car with performance in mind, implementing a 4 Barrel Carburetor, big valve heads, a high lift cam shaft, dual exhaust, and a high revving bore, this 340 would easily hang with the big blocks at the strip. When tested in 1969 the 340 Dart GTS sprinted the quarter mile in just under 15 seconds with a 0-60 rating in just over 6, making this car impressive in so many ways. Learning from other manufacturers, Dodge also valued appearance to accompany the power. Therefore, they made the Dart GTS stand out with dazzling body lines and added supplementary appeal through a power bulge hood, and the bumble bee tail stripe making it appear Scat Pack approved. With so much forethought, Dodge hit it out of the park and the Dart GTS was immediately the star of the show at release. This 1969 Dart GTS is a time-honored illustration of those concepts brought to life. Emblazoned in a mystifying T5 Copper Finish, black vinyl top, and accentuating black bumblebee stripe, this car stands out in a crowd. Inside you will feel in tune with the 340 engine as you sit in the black vinyl bucket seats and grip the console mounted 4 speed manual shifter. Added features of the plush interior are an under-dash oil pressure gauge, column mounted tachometer, and a handsome ribbed styling on the seats and door panels. The engine itself is well tuned and shows 93,339 actual miles, and still desires many more. So, while this Dart may not be the big block muscle car you always dreamed about, it will undoubtedly live up to your aspirations. When it comes to looks, performance, or rarity, this car offers superiority in all aspects. The only thing that this car is missing is you behind the wheel.
